really?

ya know what i hate? and what is the most absolutely pointless thing in the world?
car flirting.

ya know when you are at a stop light and the car next to you has some guy in it. who then tries to get your attention by revving their engine, hooting, cat calling, honking or making a kissy face?
really? really weirdo?
ya feel cool enough to hit on me from the safety of your crummy car? oh wow that takes real confidence. to make a fool outta yourself then drive off dodging any potential of rejection.
real gutsy. (and nothing could ever come of it so just cut it)

and what do they expect me to do? how am i suppose to react?
i usually just ignore it and pretend i can't hear any of it.

i hate it. its awkward, uncomfortable and useless.
i don't care if you are walking, biking or in a car yourself.
it is never any good.

and i don't know what it is but lately i have gotten a whole of it. the best example was when i was walking P to school with J in the stroller. I am wearing jeans, t shirt and high pony tail. total nanny outfit. and some sweaty old men honk at me while i am walking with the kids. hello! i am with children! what if they were mine? that would make me a MOM and MARRIED. gross.
i also had some pimply teenage boy gives me toolish looks while driving today.

this week my bestie skjelse going to Ukraine for the summer.
she is going to teach English to little children there.
so to say goodbye we celebrated her birthday since she will be gone for it.
we went to go see "Jane Eyre" at the Broadway Theater downtown and met up with Kenz + Nic at Hires.
i am going to miss skj so much but she is going to have so many adventures!

priceless

i loved loved loved having one of my very best friends Lizzy be my roomie in Jerusalem. one of my favorite things about her was her candid photo taking habit. she was able to snap some of our most classic (but not always flattering) jeru moments. she just sent me an email with these dynamite shots.

this was during the most intense finals week of my life. imagine regular BYU finals week in a pressure cooker with more percent of your grade on the line.

on this particular afternoon i was studying for Islam Civ. i hit the books the hardest i ever had all week. obviously i hit a wall and ran out of gas. also the weather was nuts that day- the sun was blacken out by monster winds and rain hence being wrapped up like a mummy.

oh the cupcake blanket, open notebook from lecture, ipod in and with a hood.

that is just priceless.

the nanny diaries begin

here are some of the best moments of my nanny job so far:

starting the baby brain washing on the 1 year old baby boy. i have conditioned him to dance and love all my music aka Phoenix, the Strokes, JB, Empire of the Sun. by the end of the summer he will be the most awesome baby!

the following conversation with the 4 year old girl:

P: "what am i?"

me: "you are a human"

P: "are you a human"

me: (i considered saying "most of the time" but instead -) "yes i am a human too"

P: "but why am i human?"

me: "because you aren't a dog or a cat"

P: "or a house"

me: "yes, you are not a house"

and lastly, as i walked to my car at the end of the day P ran out to her front porch and yelled "why are you so big?!!" and i yelled back "because I grew up!"

after i said that, it kinda hit me. wow- i really did grow up. i felt nostalgic for my own childhood but excited for the future at the same time. i guess we all have to grow up sometime, it just happened faster than i thought it would. good thing i am having a simply marvelous time being (almost) grown up!
